This first-harvest green tea contains various parts of the plant, such as leaves and stems, and undergoes a prolonged steaming process. This extended steaming process halts the oxidation of the leaves, resulting in a deeper flavor and a dark green color.

Flavor profile: Refreshing, herbaceous with a slight astringency.

 

Conventional preparation

  1. Add 2 teaspoons of sencha to a teapot.
  2. Pour 180 ml of hot water (~75°C).
  3. Infuse 30 seconds.

 

Ingredient: Green tea.
