YAWATAYA ISOGORO

Founded in 1736, Yawataya Isogoro is today an iconic producer of Shichimi spice blends. Originally sold from the grounds of Zenkoji Temple, Yawataya Isogoro spice blends are sold throughout Japan and are easily recognizable by their signature tin can.

The classic formula consists of togarashi chili pepper, mandarin orange peel, white sesame seeds, yuzu peel, shiso, Sichuan pepper, ginger. Nowadays, various other blends are available, such as Yuzu Shichimi - with a higher concentration of yuzu peel - and Ramen Shichimi, which contains black pepper, white pepper, and nori.
